I don't tend to decapitate people, never worry. I have a very high degree of control. But if it happens, I'll make sure you get reattached in short order.

Tomorrow is fine. There's a space I train in just outside our house, we live on the outer edge of Blossomcrown so plenty of open space. And the land has already seen a fair bit of fire from one of my other sparring partners.

I doubt it will happen as I'm hardly slow, but since we are establishing safety measures, it does not hurt to say. Especially as I've never had the experiences myself, who can say how good my body would be in relocation.

That should be no problem then. I have a place there for the moment. Is there a customary hosting gift or shall I use my best judgement?

How fast each of us is depends on how we are relative to the other's speed, so it never hurts to be careful. [ Two immortal badasses walk into a bar... and it probably gets leveled in short order. ]

If you want to bring something, my husband likes tea or one housemate likes wine. But there's no need to bring a gift if it's inconvenient.

It's only polite. I would never dishonor my family's reputation by being a rude guest. We may be demons, but we are royals.

Are you? I'm a Queen too. In terms of my species, at least. We don't really do families the same way.

Either way, if you want to bring a gift then those are the best ones.

I am. My father is a demon king and mother a princess and a former celestial.

How do you do families?

All immortals no matter how diluted the blood, access to powerful natural magics, supposedly in control for how the world works though how true that is could be debated. I suppose there will be proof soon enough for that concept.

Ah yes, the found family. I've heard of it, though I'm not sure how effective it is.

At least when you're immortal and usually those found aren't.

I'm not a typical immortal. I only have maybe a year of active wake time before my hibernation, which lasts decades. When I wake up, I have amnesia.
I'm programmed so starting over isn't hard at all. [ She bonds with and adapts to the first circumstances she finds, essentially. ]

I only get pieces of my past back over time. [ This is an easier explanation than the whole buying memories thing, and it's true enough. She does get flashes of memories even now. They just don't always make sense. ]

You're only awake a year and then hibernate for decades?!

How in the world do you accomplish anything like that? How do you live? Just the culture shock alone would has proven disorientating for immortals who just decided to meditate on a mountain for a few decades!

My life is full of odd complications because of it. I don't have much choice but to handle it.

On the upside, it makes it easier to find mortal "found family", as you put it. I don't have to worry about them dying on me. [ But they have to worry about her forgetting them, which sucks. She feels guilty about it, but what can you do? Being alone wouldn't help anyone, and it's not like she knows all this going in. ]

But they would lose you in less then a year.

Do you know why your body operates in such a way?

They do. Unfortunately none of us know that going in, so by the time I learn all this it's difficult to separate.

No, I don't know why. I'm going to see if some of the magic in this place can change it. I don't want to forget everything again.

I'll take a look. I spent centuries learning the ins and outs of overcoming 'impossible' magic feats. If I can move the Monkey King's staff, I can figure out a way around mental programming. How long do you have?

It's DNA more than mental programming, I think. A physical need.

I'd guess a matter of months? I'll start getting more and more tired as time goes on, like a watch winding down.

Then it'll be even easier. A physical effect just needs to be overcomed once, it can't fight like a magical curse can.

How are you at meditating?

I'd appreciate anything you can try.

I'm not great at meditating, especially at this part of my life cycle. But I could do my best.

I just need you to manage it long enough once. It helps for me to get a scan on people if they're conscious, but keep their head clear.

I'll see if I can fine the supplies while getting the gift, or at least somethings close enough in this place.

Don't trouble yourself too much. I'd like to change my hibernation, but not so much that it becomes a problem for anyone else.

While not the same...

My parents were thousands of years old by the time I was born. They were very settled in who and what they were. However, my father was imprisoned when I was young even by mortal standards.

We freed him not too long ago. Mother and father have been able to fall into step with each other, but its become quite clear my father and I don't know how to handle each other yet.

My memories of him are too fuzzy, I know him more from stories, and he's missed most of my life.

Something worst isn't a fate I would wish on someone, so it is enough to offer to at least try.

Hm, it is. We are working on it, of course! We're even learning to cook together! Apparently GMOs really change food over four centuries, so he has to learn all sorts of new recipes.

And its not as if I have much less on my plate until I figure out whatever is getting in the way of my dimensional gate spell.

Recipes and food do change a lot over centuries. Any particular culture you're trying to cook from? I can't cook myself but I've eaten food from all over.
