All immortals no matter how diluted the blood, access to powerful natural magics, supposedly in control for how the world works though how true that is could be debated. I suppose there will be proof soon enough for that concept.
[Though hearing that gives him pause because that]
[Is quite sad to him? For all his parents and himself were actually pretty toxic for each other personality wise, they do all legitimately view family as being the most important thing.]
[Servants are hardly the same as family. The idea of there being nothing is...]
I'm not a typical immortal. I only have maybe a year of active wake time before my hibernation, which lasts decades. When I wake up, I have amnesia. I'm programmed so starting over isn't hard at all. [ She bonds with and adapts to the first circumstances she finds, essentially. ]
I only get pieces of my past back over time. [ This is an easier explanation than the whole buying memories thing, and it's true enough. She does get flashes of memories even now. They just don't always make sense. ]
You're only awake a year and then hibernate for decades?!
How in the world do you accomplish anything like that? How do you live? Just the culture shock alone would has proven disorientating for immortals who just decided to meditate on a mountain for a few decades!
My life is full of odd complications because of it. I don't have much choice but to handle it.
On the upside, it makes it easier to find mortal "found family", as you put it. I don't have to worry about them dying on me. [ But they have to worry about her forgetting them, which sucks. She feels guilty about it, but what can you do? Being alone wouldn't help anyone, and it's not like she knows all this going in. ]
What a cruel way for someone to be forced to operate.
[And for all he is a self claimed villain, Red Son puts way too much value on love to think whatever this...this curse was, was an acceptable thing to exist. Even evil should have standards.]
I'll take a look. I spent centuries learning the ins and outs of overcoming 'impossible' magic feats. If I can move the Monkey King's staff, I can figure out a way around mental programming. How long do you have?
Don't misunderstand me. I'm not the type to hurt myself for another.
Its merely
Understanding.
While not the same...
My parents were thousands of years old by the time I was born. They were very settled in who and what they were. However, my father was imprisoned when I was young even by mortal standards.
We freed him not too long ago. Mother and father have been able to fall into step with each other, but its become quite clear my father and I don't know how to handle each other yet.
My memories of him are too fuzzy, I know him more from stories, and he's missed most of my life.
Something worst isn't a fate I would wish on someone, so it is enough to offer to at least try.
Hm, it is. We are working on it, of course! We're even learning to cook together! Apparently GMOs really change food over four centuries, so he has to learn all sorts of new recipes.
And its not as if I have much less on my plate until I figure out whatever is getting in the way of my dimensional gate spell.
Recipes and food do change a lot over centuries. Any particular culture you're trying to cook from? I can't cook myself but I've eaten food from all over.
[ Leaving the dimensional spell thing alone. She can't imagine it'll work in a place like this. ]
Its mostly Chinese, especially barbecue, though we have been outsourcing for the newer breeds of peppers in other countries. Father is quite pleased that the mortals have managed to make peppers that are actually spicy these days. There is also a mix of Japanese and Korean, and with Cooking With Chang'e having an Indian theme planned for next month, we'll likely be exploring those soon as well.
You're really speaking my language. Spicy foods are pretty great, and I've traveled a lot in that area of the world. Amazing street food they have over there.
[Be very careful, Saya, this is spicy food meant to impress someone who could literally eat lava.]
Oh, it is quite impressive! Usually the hole in the wall places when it comes to food. I can't usually find any places with adequate spicy food, I can only recall one that was sort of okay, but there has been some impressive for savory and sweet. Father and I even attempted to educate the masses on REAL spicy food as a sort of bonding exercise.
Before the Spider Queen decided to ruin our break out event! Between the robot spider attack and taking care of them, all our equipment was broken and our profits melted. Mother decided we should have a proper vacation after that.
But! While I'm not as good a cook as father, I am more than capable and I know all the spice recipes if you ever wish to partake.
[ She has a stomach for digesting blood, she'll manage. Besides, her taste buds are highly specific, she can't even taste human food that well. It all pretty much tastes the same. Her taste for blood, however, is highly evolved down to what a person is feeling. ]
I definitely wish to partake! I never get tired of eating what people like to cook.

How do you do families?
I'll be sure to select something befitting your station.
[He doesn't need to eat so why not splurge his allowance on expensive house visitation gifts.]

When the next generation is born, the previous queen dies.
Other than us, we have our -- knights. Or servants, you could call them. That's it.

That sounds quite lonely.

Blood isn't the only way to make a family. I've adapted.

At least when you're immortal and usually those found aren't.

Do you know why your body operates in such a way?
no subject
No, I don't know why. I'm going to see if some of the magic in this place can change it. I don't want to forget everything again.

I'd guess a matter of months? I'll start getting more and more tired as time goes on, like a watch winding down.

How are you at meditating?
no subject
I'm not great at meditating, especially at this part of my life cycle. But I could do my best.

I'll see if I can fine the supplies while getting the gift, or at least somethings close enough in this place.

If you want to try, and it's no inconvenience for you, I'll certainly accept it.

Makes sense. There is a definite difference between food made by someone just doing a job versus someone who actually enjoys making food.
