[Seasons] De-hibernation Plot Brainstorming Post!

Hey EllipsaFam!

For those not aware, Saya has approximately a year until her 30 year hibernation starts, after which she'll have total amnesia. Obviously, this sucks. She'd like to not do that anymore. That's where you come in! I'll be doing a longer term plot to help get rid of Saya's hibernation-amnesia cycle, which will involve several characters and their powers/abilities as well as several failures before succeeding. The mods have said I can plot out what I want to do so that's what we're doing here. I want to involve as many characters as would like to be involved, so let's plot some shit!

Be aware that anything we plot is subject to mod approval so things might have to get tweaked some.

Here's what I want to do:


Part 1: FETCH QUESTS
I want to do several quests (as many as are interesting and people want to do!) where Saya + whoever all go out and get ~rare magic items~ (which we can make up as long as the mods approve it!) that can be used to help fix her hibernation problem. These should be difficult to get for maximum fun. Here's what I want to know from you:

+ What powers and abilities does your character have that can be used for a cool fetch quest? (ie, can they breathe underwater? Can they enhance the magic inside things? Whatever you think would be fun!)
+ Do you have any ideas for magical things that could stop a hibernation or allow someone to keep their memories that sound sufficiently awesome to find and collect?

Part 2: We're doing MAGIC-SCIENCE, BABY!
Saya will want to involve the Research Center and also anyone who has experience with science or magic to help tweak her body so she has no more need to hibernate. DNA experts and scientists of all kids are welcome, as well as anyone who has powers or abilities that you want to play with! I'm totally open to creativity here. But be aware that there will be at least two failures before success. The Nintendo Three, if you will. If you want to participate in this part your character has to be open to trying again even after there are some Consequences for Saya after attempts which don't work.

+ What Sciencey Stuff your character can do that we could use for this?
+ What materials from either Saya (blood and tissue samples) or from fetch quests would be necessary and/or cool to use for this?

Part 3: MURDER FRIENDS and other consequences
Saya has a berserker mode that she will be worried about activating with the cure attempts. (I haven't decided whether that will happen or not.) ICly she will want Badass people present when they attempt the hibernation fixes, just in case she goes out of control and needs to be contained. These people will need to be prepared to kill her if necessary and she will make that clear.

Failure consequences I am considering:
+ Saya goes to sleep for a short while and wakes up with amnesia, which she recovers from in a couple of days
+ Extreme Bloodthirst for a day or two
+ Weakness and general loss of her abilities for a little bit, which makes her need constant touch
+ MAYBE berserker mode?! Depends what people want to mess with.

[ The video opens to the seashore. Saya finishes fiddling with the camera, then goes to sit down in frame, but in such a way that the waves are visible. ]

You showed me your favorite place so many times. I thought I should show you mine.

I don't know what it is, but the sea relaxes me. It's the only thing that does so while I'm still -- you've seen me be a whirling dervish enough times to be able to guess that... oh, sorry, that means someone who can't stop moving... that moving calms me down. It makes my thoughts clear. But the sea does the same thing.

I feel like I should say something profound here, but I'm just going to talk for a while first.

[ And she does. She talks about never having a real family, and what it was like to realize she had found one, piece by piece. She talks vaguely about hell and carving out a niche of happiness there regardless of that the powers that be wanted to crush their spirits. She talks about missing her sister and how she sometimes feels guilty about that. ]

[ She talks about meeting Sky and how happy that memory makes her. How much she's going to miss their walks in the woods. How she hopes that cloak she made lasts a long time and it helps Sky remember Saya even though she's gone. ]

-- And here's the thing. I know this part might make you a little uncomfortable. It would if it were me. But I've gotta say it, just bear with me.

You're incredible. And yeah, I see you cringing. Shush now, this is my show. [ A little smile ] If it were me, I wouldn't believe it either. That's just what everyone says, right? Nah, it's not. I could have said anything for this recording, and I'm not about to lie on it.

I never believed anyone when they said that about me. "Get higher standards", I'd think. Or "yeah, but if you really knew me well enough you'd see that I'm just trash." So I'm sure you're thinking some variation on that.

But it takes so much courage to try again when you're afraid of hurting others, of getting hurt yourself. You were so hesitant to reach out when we first met, but you did. You were so nervous before your first date with Aymeric, but you did it. You asked for help and you did it. And then you thought he would never feel about you the way you felt about him, and you were willing to accept that even though it hurt.

That all makes you the best sort of person. It's easy to just believe you're great, or convince yourself of it. What's hard is knowing that you're nothing special and then doing all those things regardless. Putting yourself out there when you're so sure it's going to end in disappointment. But none of it did.

You're wonderful, Sky. Daeleth. Knowing you made my life better, even in such a short time. And I'm so happy that Aymeric and everyone got to see you shine. It was my privilege.

[ Saya pauses for a moment, not wanting to get too emotional to talk. ] I guess that's my cue. Just listen to this if you ever feel like you're not enough, okay? Because I'll know it for you. Even while I sleep.

Your Majesties Demon Bull King and Princess Iron Fan,

I'm certain that, by now, you've heard some rather basic information such as who I am and a bit about about my unconventional circumstances. Permit me to offer my formal apologies for not being able to introduce myself properly, it was a fond wish of mine. But, alas, the cruelties of my life cycle would not be denied. As a Queen of my species I have few weaknesses, and almost none of the ones that plague most vampires... but that strength comes alongside this substantial drawback.

I don't know my precise state at the time you will receive this missive, yet I know beyond doubt that Red Son has not yet restored me to myself, or it would be unnecessary to provide such at all. And so I can imagine how things must appear to you: your child brings home a woman in a chrysalis, or who remembers little to nothing, wearing your family's crest, and insists he must reverse her natural life cycle and restore her memories, and this endeavor might take centuries. When he has only just spent centuries freeing his father. It must sound like madness. In your position, I cannot claim I'd be anything shy of incredulous, perhaps outraged. Perhaps I'd insist that his focus should be elsewhere, on honoring your family.

I must be honest that I can't disagree. I passed many hours considering what I was bringing down upon him. Wondering if it would not be better for me to distance myself from him, for his sake.

But Red Son will not be convinced of anything once he's made up his mind and given his word, not least who he should love. And I know that is a trait he inherited from both of you.

So in the end, I could not take his choice away. My time would be better spent, I think, detailing for you who I am, and demonstrating, as best as I can in this imperfect medium, that I do not take the weight or responsibility of wearing your family's crest lightly.

My species does not have traditional family structures, and by the time my twin and I were revived by human scientists, we were the only ones remaining on Earth. Due to the way things progressed, my twin and I were denied even each other. I had my two Chevaliers, blood servants we make from humans, until their respective passings, and human handlers that cared for me in the flawed way humans have about them, but never a family. This might cause one to think that I would treat family quite casually, although in fact the opposite is true. Even were Red Son's obvious devotion to you not enough to convince me of the importance of family, I know it to be true. When he gifted me a symbol of your family, I looked upon it with clarity of mind to the gravity of what I was being offered. And, fully aware of the same, I accepted.

I know that when I meet you at last you will be pleased by my strength and power and bearing. I hope you will be pleased to see how intensely I love your child. What will be less immediately evident is that if anyone or anything tried to bring harm any piece of your family, I would rend them to bloody scraps where they stand.

This I will prove to you beyond all doubt when your son restores me to myself.

The path to get to that end point might be... winding. My hatchling self hardly projects fortitude, though in such a state I am wild and powerful, and easily taught. And I do retain some aspects of my teachings from one waking cycle to the next, particularly if they can become habit or muscle memory, so if you should see fit to instruct me I will gladly absorb it.

It might be that I will be brought into a berserk state by some of the treatments, which will demonstrate my power and potential. It is an unpleasant experience to be out of control in that way, but that is one slight upside.

In the meantime, during decades of my Long Sleep, I have asked from your son a promise that he would not devote himself entirely to the cause of restoring me. It is equally important to me, if not moreso, that he fulfill his obligations to you, and to whatever other projects he should find himself drawn. If he fails to honor that promise, of course you should broach the subject. Insistently if necessary.

With that, I take my proverbial leave. It is my hope that this odd introduction serves to somewhat soothe the unintended insult of this situation.
