We don't have an arcade in our village
At home I have a couple of RPGs
But I'd like to learn how to play other games

I'm good at the dancing games and skee ball, the driving and flight simulators are fun, a friend taught me a trick to the claw machine, and the joystick games...

I'm not great at those, but I have fun with them. You can feel free to snicker at me. So it's your call where to start.

[ She's picked a game where the fighting is very cartoonish and not at all graphic like Donkey Kong or the like, just in case he wouldn't be into combat games where there's weapons and blood and whatnot. And as advertised, she's not great at it, but giggles her way through. ]

[They both suck, but Robin's having a good time with the cartoony fighting game! They're both evenly matched in that they don't know what they're doing.]

Deal! But you'd better not be hustling me. [ Her elbow budges his arm very gently to punctuate that she's joking. ]

[Isn't that a requirement to hustle somebody...]

[ Any time you mess with someone's head to beat them is a hustle in her book. ]

It's just a joke. If we were playing for points I'd have picked something where I don't press the wrong button at least half the time.

I know which buttons attack and I just hit those ones a lot

I always jump when I want to attack and vice versa. It just takes practice, I guess.

I never understood why people jump so much in fighting games
I don't jump in real life while I'm fighting

I actually do jump a lot when I'm fighting. Flips and all sorts of things. It makes me hard to hit.

If I did that I'd just land on my behind and make myself an easy target

Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. I'm pretty strong for my size, but I don't have good reach, so I have to move around a lot to get an advantage.

Being good at moving around and fighting with my body clearly doesn't mean a thing when it comes to this game, though. [ since she's getting creamed by whatever hilarious chomping enemy ]

I think if being good at fighting and being good at video games were that closely connected
A lot fewer people would play video games

[They're probably both getting eaten by a chain chomp hazard. In his defense, it's really hard to write and play at the same time.]

I think I technically died before you, but not by all that much. Do you want to try something else, or should we move on? I'm really impressive at DDR. [ and is a show off, but she's willing to just head on out ]

I can try DDR
But I definitely can't write and do that at the same time

Totally fair. If I try and get you to talk when you can't just put a hand up and I'll knock it off, okay?

[ Over to the dance pads! She'll let him pick the song, and then she proceeds to select the hardest setting for herself and absolutely crushes it. Musician + speed = this is her literal jam. ]

[Picks the easiest setting because he's a weenie and then manages to just barely not fail out. But he passed, at least!]

Especially for your first time, that's pretty good. [ But she gets off the pad, no use torturing the poor guy. ]

You should be, it's not an intuitive skill.

[ Um what to do while he recovers... walking to the next place seems premature if he's out of breath ] I could show you the trick to the claw machine before we go. It sure looks impressive, but it's not hard to learn.

[ And show him she does! The details are lost to time but there is indeed a simple-ish trick that gets you a prize every time. ]

[ The one she gets is a really cute dinosaur which she looks very pleased about, and which she offers to him if he wants it. ]
